Magnetization dynamics affected by phonon pumping

چکیده

"Pumping" of phonons by a dynamic magnetization promises to extend the range and functionality magnonic devices. We explore impact phonon pumping on room-temperature ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) spectra bilayers thin yttrium iron garnet (YIG) films thick gadolinium gallium substrates over wide frequency range. At low frequencies Kittel mode hybridizes coherently with standing ultrasound waves bulk acoustic resonator form magnon polarons that induce rapid oscillations magnetic susceptibility, as reported before. higher frequencies, resonances overlap, merging into conventional FMR line, but an increased line width. The dependence broadening follows predictions from theory in substrate limit. In addition, we find substantial magnon-phonon coupling perpendicular spin wave (PSSW) mode. This evidences importance overlap between modes, provides route towards engineering magnetoelastic coupling.

Time resolved magnetization dynamics of ultrathin Fe(001) films: spin-pumping and two-magnon scattering.

The time-resolved magnetic response of ultrathin epitaxial Fe(001) films grown on GaAs(001) and covered by Au, Pd, and Cr capping layers was investigated by time and spatially resolved Kerr effect measurements. The magnetization was excited by an in-plane magnetic field pulse using the transient internal field generated at a Schottky barrier while the wavelength of the excitation (resonant mode...

Phonon affected transport through molecular quantum dots.

To describe the interaction of molecular vibrations with electrons at a quantum dot contacted to metallic leads, we extend an analytical approach that we previously developed for the many-polaron problem. Our scheme is based on an incomplete variational Lang-Firsov transformation, combined with a perturbative calculation of the electron-phonon self-energy in the framework of generalized Matsuba...
